My name is Debra. I have lost almost 80 lbs in the last year. 50 lbs since going vegan 4 months ago. I understand that not everyone wants to go vegan. That is ok by me. I love the book and its message. I have been shouting it from the roof tops since reading the book. Everyone just needs to get more fiber- doesn't matter how healthy you are, if you are in need of losing weight or if you are at your ideal weight already. In order to live a healthy lifestyle you must get in the fiber. My sister who is at her idea weight and is active just found out her cholesterol has gone up 50 points! Why? She doesn't get enough fiber. She is eating a lot of foods that have no fiber but plenty of fat. So I encouraged her to up that fiber intake! I still have 70-80 lbs to lose but I am here to help anyone who needs some support, some recipes, some ideas. I have a blog (in my sig line) where I share recipes, I review vegan food items (how many of us have been afraid to buy something new like a high fiber mock meat- for fear it would taste horrible? I taste it for you and then share it with the world!). I share lots of other tips and tricks to eating healthy and getting the fiber into your diet. So check it out. About 2 months ago I realized that I wanted to help others like me who had let their weight get out of control and then hid behind it. I am breaking out of my comfort zone (I even cooked at a vegan conference back in June for 3 days. I had never been away from my family let alone cooked for hundreds of other people. Turns out I loved it and can't wait to do it again next year.). So, how can I help you??

i have added fiber to my diet - from about 25g up to 40g - and have gained 10lbs. I am really down about this. I am now at 181lbs - and started the summer at 170. hmmmmm - nope - i don't eat high fat, i am decently active (IE - long walks with my retriever every day and a good sweaty workout at least three times a week). what the heck???? I was badly bulimic so I tend not to diet and favour a higher protien diet but my wieght has crept up over the past 20 years and I was hopeful this was a way I would be healthy and happy with my weight

Hello Guest: I'm sorry to hear about your challenges and weight gain over the summer. Our diet is about eating a high fiber diet, drinking plenty of water, and stopping eating when you're full. I strongly suggest talking with your physician. We do not offer medical advice on the forum.

Hi Debra,
We are starting this way of eating/lifestyle in our home. I'm searching for a wide variety of recipes. Do you have simple, yummy recipes you can point me towards?
